선한사마리아 기도회란? 여수애양병원은 1909년 강도 만난 불행한 자의 참 이웃이 된 선한 사마리아인의 정신으로 설립되었습니다. 길가에 쓰러진 한센 환자를 포사이트 선교사가 말에 태우고 옮겨와서 치료를 시작한 것에서 비롯된 것입니다. 이후 지금까지 가난하고 소외된 한센환자와 소아마비, 뇌성마비등으로 불구가 된 채 불행하게 된 이들을 거의 백년 가까이 선교병원으로서 저렴하게 치료하고 재활시켜 오고 있습니다. 가난하고 소외되고 나이 많은 불구환자들과 한센환자들의 치료를 위한 여수애양병원의 복지의료사업을 돕기 위하여 뜻을 같이한 사람들이 선한 사마리아인 기도회를 조직하게 되었습니다. 근래에 이르러 국민소득이 높아졌음에도 우리주위에는 여전히 가난하고 소외된 불구환자들이 많을뿐더러 불구도가 심한 한센환자들이 이제는 70을 넘는 고령이 되어 기거활동과 침식이 부자연스러워 직접 옆에서 도와 주지 않으면 않되게 되었습니다. 이웃의 따뜻한 도움의 후원이 필요하신 분들입니다. 후원하시는 방법으로는 회원으로 가입하여 후원회원이 되신 후 회원 각자의 생일을 기념하여 1년에 한 구좌(2000원) 이상을 선한 사마리아인 기도회에 입금하시면 됩니다. 이 일을 통하여 불우한 사람들의 참 이웃이 되실 수 있습니다. 후원회원들의 생일에는 병원과 재활원과 평안양로원의 아침예배시간에 회원님의 삶에 주 예수그리스도의 은혜와 복이 임하도록 기도드립니다. The Good Samaritan Society Wilson Leprosy Center & Rehabilitation Hospital was built in the mind set of Good Samaritans in 1909. Everything started due to a medical missionary named Dr. Forsythe. One day, Dr. Forsythe saw a leprous woman lying by the side of the road. Without a thought of danger to himself, desiring only to do as his Lord would have done, he lifted the woman upon his horse, and treated her. For almost a hundred years, people with Hansen disease who are poor and unfortunately alienated with polio, cerebral palsy, etc. have been treated and recovered at a low cost at the missionary hospital until this day. This prayer meeting of Good Samaritans was arranged by some people at Wilson Leprosy Center & Rehabilitation Hospital in order to provide a medical welfare facility for people who are disabled or suffer from Hansen disease that are not able to afford any medical treatment. Even though the income of individuals have increased, there are still people who have low income and are disabled in this part of the country. Not only that, but there are still elders ranging from seventy years old and up who suffer from serious symptoms of Hansen disease. Elders with the disease are not able to live a healthy and normal lifestyle, not being able to dress themselves. They are always in need of help by their significant others or any Good Samaritans.
